A paid repair firm can usually do what you can do yourself under the Privacy Act — challenge wrong listings, not erase accurate ones. Upfront fees are a warning sign. A financial counsellor is often the better first call.

Wrong listings are a Privacy Act problem, not a score hack. Write to the credit provider first in most cases, keep the evidence, watch the timeframes, and use OAIC or AFCA when the internal process stalls.
